Lake County Home Wine Makers Festival-Lakeport, CA

Event Date: June 20, 2020 : 12:00 PM-5:00 PM

The Lake County Symphony Association Home Winemakers Festival welcomes entries from all home winemakers in our judging event which occurs on the morning of the festival. All entries must be delivered in person between 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM on Saturday, June 20th. The drop-off location is the Lakeport Yacht Club 15 5th Street, 2 blocks North of Library Park on the water. Cost per entry is $7. We will be accepting cash or check.

Note that all entrants must participate in the festival with a tasting booth.

Gold, silver, and bronze metals will be awarded awarded in the afternoon at the gazebo in the park. Festival attendees also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite wine label and best decorated booth and a People's Choice award will be given for Best Red, White, and Other Wine and Best Beer and Other Brew.

1.† This competition is open to persons 21 years of age or older.

2.† Entries are limited to wines produced by amateur winemakers only.

3.† All wines entered must be on the entry form, and all fees must accompany the entry form.† Wines become the property of the LCSA and none will be returned.

4.† Wines must be in a standard 750 ml wine bottles.† Exceptions will be made for aperitif and dessert wines.

5.† The neck of the bottle must be free of any labels, shrink-seals, wax, or any other identifying mark.† A standard wine label is okay as long as it is not visible near the neck.

6.† The entries must be at the judging station between 8:30 and 9:30 am the day of the event.† Judging will start at 10 am sharp.† The judges' decisions are final.

7.† All entries will be placed in a brown paper bag.† Each bag will be marked with only the wine entry number and category by the judging coordinator. The entry number will be the only way to identify the name of the entrant.

8.† Multiple entries are allowed per category (varietal, blend, etc), regardless of vintage, vineyard or mix, but only one ribbon will be awarded per winner per category

9.† Awards will be presented for first, second and third place wines. Only one ribbon will be awarded per winner per category.

10. A competition fee of $7 will be collected per entry.† Make checks payable to LCSA.

11.† LCSA reserves the right to change terms and conditions at any time.

The wine entries will be judged in the following categories:

Dry red wine: Zinfandel, Merlot, Syrah, Other

Dry white wine: Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Other


Apertif, Dessert and Unique wine: all types

Note that wine classified as a specific varietal should contain 75% or more of the stated grape. If a category receives less than 2 bottles for judging, the category will not be judged and the lone entry will be added to the "Other" category.
