The Clearlake Performing Arts Home Winemakers Festival welcomes entries from all home winemakers in our judging event which occurs on the morning of the festival. All entries must be delivered in person between 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM on Saturday, June 23rd. The drop-off location is the tasting room of Bell Hill Vineyards across from Library Park in Lakeport, CA. The address is 125 Park Street, next to the Biggs 155 restaurant. Cost per entry is $7. We will be accepting cash or check. Please bring a labeled 750 ML bottle of each entry to be judged along with a completed entry form.The label should identify the varietal, vintage, and your name.
Note that all entrants must participate in the festival with a tasting booth.
Gold, silver, and bronze metals will be awarded awarded in the afternoon at the gazebo in the park. There will also be a Best in Show award. Festival attendees also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite wine, label, and booth and a People’s choice award for each category will also be awarded.
The wine entries will be judged in the following categories:
Dry red wine: Blends, Barbera, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Nebbiolo, Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese, Syrah, Zinfanel, Other
Dry white wine: Blends, Chardonnay, Fume Blanc, Gerwurtztraminer, Pinot Grigio/Pinot Gris, Reisling, Sauvignon Blanc, Other
Dry Rose/Blush: list varietal
Fruit wine (other than grapes): list fruit
Sparkling wines: red, white
Apertif and Dessert wine: all fortified wines
Unique: Any not listed above
Note that wine classified as a specific varietal should contain 75% or more of the stated grape. Categories may be combined if too we have too few entries in specific categories.
